Vicky Langan

A Music Network RESONATE Performance

Vicky Langan is a multidisciplinary artist working in the field of experimental sound, performance and film. Langan both embraces and projects vulnerability, offering an intimate territory loaded with personal symbolism and unguarded emotion. Close recordings of the natural world, intimate sounds from daily life, emotional unearthing and a disturbance of surfaces are all explored as a temporal space where the material body and sensual inner worlds mesh. In opening herself emotionally, she creates warm yet discomforting rituals that at once embrace the viewer and remain resolutely private, exploring the limits of what can be shared between people and what must remain mysterious.

For the RESONATE residency, Vicky will spend time filming, recording and experimenting on site at Triskel Christchurch in collaboration with Maximilian Le Cain, working towards building a brand new multidisciplinary live performance in April 2024. Commenting on the award Vicky said “After a much-needed break from live music over the past two years, RESONATE allows me to return, consolidating both my sound and my still-developing film practice in a live capacity, for the first time. Thanks to Music Network and Triskel Arts Centre for this very exciting opportunity.”
