Jazz is a huge part of Triskel’s live music programme so the team in the arts centre always look forward to the October bank holiday weekend and the Guinness Cork Jazz Festival. This year, they present nine concerts across the four days, including several from world-renowned jazz label ECM Records. They also extend their ECM Cork Day to Saturday October 31st when they present a concert by the Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir.
Sunday of the Jazz Weekend will be dedicated to ECM artists, with three concerts happening. Sokratis Sinopoulos and Yann Keerim start the day at 2.30pm, with pianist Tord Gustavsen and saxophonist Trygve Seim performing at 6.30pm before the day ends at 8.30pm with the Maciej Obara Quartet featuring Mathias Eick.
Other ECM artists coming to Cork for the festival include Jason Moran (former Artistic Director at the Kennedy Center), Iain Ballamy and Rob Luft who are all in Triskel on Friday October 23rd.
Tony Sheehan, Artistic Director at Triskel, spoke of the performance by the choir, “We’re delighted to welcome the Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir to Cork on Saturday 31 October in partnership with the National Concert Hall. They have planned a glorious programme of music by Arvo Pärt and Philip Glass amongst others. Our long-standing relationship with ECM Records made this possible.” This concert is part of Ireland’s Cultural Programme for the 2026 Presidency of the Council of the European Union, supported by the Department of Culture, Communications and Sport.
Other artists appearing for the Jazz Festival include Jasmine Myra, Okonski and Momoko Gill, while Bill Laurance comes to Cork as part of his Music Network tour.
