A special evening of music and zines is coming your way! We invited three talented artists who are both musicians and zine-makers to share their art with us for an evening. This one-of-a-kind performance will give you an insight into the world of these really talented folks, and you will be provided with some materials to doodle some zines on the go yourself during the performance.

With performances by Laurie Shaw, Samuel Arnold Keane & Wike.

More about the performers:

Laurie Shaw
Laurie Shaw is a zine maker and cartoonist based between Kerry and Cork. His work mixes retro comic book hijinx, supernatural daftness and explorations into weird goings on. His comic book series “classic cigar shape” is now in its sixth issue. Other recent work includes the one-off comic “Rabbit Fighter”, the one page zines “UF(Oh no)”, “The Future” and “The Past” and the traumatic, L-plate shaped “Learner” zine.

Samuel Arnold Keane
Samuel Arnold Keane is a forager, illustrator, musician… merging various art forms to tell the stories of the seaweeds, coasts and streets, he gathers, wades and walks. At the essence of his creative practice is a passion for the natural world and to share this with others through song, performance, image and word.

Wike
My name is Wike Schippers, I’m a visual artist and a singer-songwriter/composer. My main visual art style is mainly colourful watercolours with a lot of movement inspired by the natural world. Usually my pieces are mixed media in combination with pens, ink, gouache, coloured pencil etc. I also make lino cuts that I use to print on shirts but also to make cards, prints and zines. In music, I mostly write intensely self-reflective lyrics. Lately I’ve loved putting together my different art mediums, so combining my song lyrics, poems and music with my visual art and making them into zines.
