Triskel Arts Centre is delighted to be taking part in the 5th European Cinema Night. Europa Cinemas has joined forces with the MEDIA Programme of the European Commission to celebrate the richness and diversity of European cinema and to raise audience awareness of how MEDIA supports Europe’s film industry and culture.
For this occasion, there will be a special free screening of Petite Maman, a sublime modern fairytale about the quiet wonder of mother-daughter relationships. After the death of her beloved grandmother, eight-year-old Nelly meets a mysterious friend in the woods. Together they embark on a fantastical journey of discovery which helps Nelly come to terms with this newfound loss. A favourite of the 2021 Berlin Film Festival, Céline Sciamma’s picture examines childhood, memory and loss with a typically delicate touch, elegantly weaved together into an enchanting and moving depiction of love and acceptance.
We are delighted that Cara Doherty, film critic with The Echo, will be in attendance to speak about the film, and there will be a drinks reception before the screening which each ticket holder is invited to attend.
This special preview screening of Petite Maman (presented as part of European Cinema Night) is free but ticketed. Tickets will be released at 10am on Thursday 8 December.
