Fionn Regan

Sounds from a Safe Harbour

Fionn Regan is an Irish folk musician and singer-songwriter. “I float sometimes when you’re around,” sings Regan on “Islands”, setting the tone for O Avalanche — an album of poetic, weightless intimacy written in Mallorca. Lush with sun-drenched imagery and abstract warmth, it’s immersive and emotionally elevating. From the dreamlike “Teix Mountain” to the title track featuring Anna Friel, and the tender “Farewell”, each song flows like a scene in a cinematic reverie. Regan’s songwriting glows with impressionistic detail, light and storm, moonlight and memory. His first album since 2019’s CalaO Avalanche continues his singular trajectory — a rich evolution from the Mercury-nominated The End of History to collaborations with Cillian Murphy and nods from Bon Iver. Co-produced with Ian Grimble, this is Regan’s bottled-summer opus: intuitive, transportive, and full of “upward-feeling energy”. In his own words, it’s a record that floats, flickers, and shimmers — “like you’re looking into a world where there’s a depth of field… and you’re floating into and out of it.”
