We’re delighted to announce not one but two lecture series for this Autumn.
A new series this year is from our colleagues in art Sample-Studios. Dr Matthew Whyte, their Development and Communications Coordinator, will lead Art History Reframed, a six-week series beginning in Classical Greece and finishing with the splendours of Imperial Rome.
Áine Andrews is coming back to us with her popular series on Famous Paintings and their Hidden Histories. That’ll run in November and December and will examiner paintings such as The Window by Seán Keating, Sunflowers by Vincent Van Gogh and The Nativity by Mainie Jellett.
Matthew Whyte will also be here on Friday 23 August with Dr Michael Waldron for The French Connection where they will speak about the impact of Brittany both in art history and in the National Collection at Crawford Art Gallery.
Following this free talk, they will bring the audience into Triskel Sample Project Space to view Cork/Brittany ‘Maritime’, the exhibition by Ida Mitrani, Laure Colomer, Rebecca Bradley and Caroline Boyfield.
Tickets for the talk will be released on Tuesday 20 August at 10am so put that in your diary now! But you can book your tickets for both lectures series now.
