This Sat 13 September we have the unique, passionate performance of the Gealán Quartet, who first started performing together in 2021. Taking on the works of Mozart, Grieg, and Michael Doherty, this group are a tour de force and will be a regular upon our stages. They have performed works by Fanny Mendelssohn, Mozart, Dvorak, Schumann, Shostakovich, Sam Perkin, and the Derry born composer Michael Doherty, who composed the remarkable and well-received No. 3 String Quartet upon commission by the Gealán Quartet as part of their Autumn 2023 tour. Prior to that tour, the quartet also performed at Westival at the invitation of Westport Festival of Chamber Music.
Known for revealing their more tender and introspective side, often in contrast to their passionate, emotionally charged performances, Gealán consistently prove with each appearance why they remain a favourite among audiences.
