MSF Ireland in Cork: Gaza and Sudan – Healthcare on the Frontline

Join Médecins Sans Frontières Ireland for a first-hand update on the medical humanitarian impact of the devastating wars in Gaza and Sudan at Triskel Arts Centre in Cork on 5 September.

The situation in Gaza is catastrophic. Most of Gaza’s hospitals are out of service, after being repeatedly attacked, besieged and raided. Patients and medical staff are being killed. Médecins Sans Frontières medical teams have been providing emergency surgeries, wound treatment, medical and maternity care in increasingly difficult circumstances in Gaza since October 7. After almost ten months of relentless bombardment and devastation, our staff continue to witness mass casualties arriving at the few functioning health facilities.

Meanwhile, people in Sudan have faced horrific levels of violence since the war started there in March 2023. Widespread fighting and repeated attacks, abuse and exploitation, as well as persistent attacks on health workers and medical facilities, are having disastrous consequences for the health and well-being of communities across the country. MSF is currently active in eight states in Sudan, providing lifesaving assistance to people affected by the violence, displacement, and disruptions in the health system.

Join MSF at their upcoming event in Cork to hear from MSF staff who have responded to these crises first-hand.
