On Sun 22 June, Crash Ensemble return to Triskel Arts Centre with the performance of an iconic piece, Glassworks. Tickets available now.
Glassworks was composed in 1981 by Philip Glass and released the following year, in 1982, as an LP and cassette by CBS Records; the same label that represented artists like Frank Sinatra and Bruce Springsteen.
In this work, Glass made a bold and original attempt to blend minimalism with pop sensibilities, crafting pieces that fused classical structure with catchy, accessible melodies. The result was one of his most widely celebrated compositions. Now, Crash Ensemble, one of Ireland’s foremost contemporary music groups, is ready to bring a performance of a lifetime to the Triskel stage with their rendition of this adventurous, highly popular piece.
