The second concert in the Spotlight Chamber Music Series will feature the inimitable artistry of Siún Milne and Aoife Nic Athlaoich in a programme of violin and cello duo works.
To begin, they will present Jessie Montgomery’s duo, which, in the words of the composer, “is meant as an ode to friendship with movements characterizing laughter, compassion, adventure, and sometimes silliness”. This will be followed by Northern Irish composer Amy Rooney’s work Seasons, written two years earlier in 2013, and the concert will conclude with Zoltán Kodály’s folk-inspired and boisterous three-movement work for the same combination.
Siún Milne – Violin
Aoife Nic Athlaoich – Cello
Jessie Montgomery – Duo for Violin and Cello
Amy Rooney – Seasons
Kodály – Duo for Violin and Cello, Op. 7
PLEASE NOTE: Patrons will need to be immune (fully vaccinated or recovered from COVID-19 within the previous 6 months) or accompanied minors (under 18), in line with sectoral guidance. Spotlight Chamber Music Series
The Spotlight Chamber Music Series returns to Triskel this Autumn/Winter. This popular series is based on the principle of bringing together some of Ireland’s most dynamic and distinguished musicians to play with one another in small ensembles. Funded by the Arts Council and supported by Triskel, these concerts showcase a wide range of repertoire and a wide variety of instrumental formations. Each concert features a work by a contemporary female Irish composer.
