The Lir Quartet make a welcome return to Cork following a residency at the Centre Culturel Irlandais in Paris.

They bring one of the very last and finest of Haydn’s astonishing output of sixty-eight string quartets, all of them full of invention and creative energy, and, by way of contrast, a much loved work by a Russian chemist – Borodin’s tuneful and heartfelt second quartet was written in 1881 and achieved popular fame when it was adapted into the 1953 Broadway musical Kismet.
