Carrigtwohill Gospel Choir will kick off their 10th year together with a celebration to remember and will be joined by some very special guests at Triskel Christchurch.

On a damp, cold evening in March 2010, a handful of eager locals gathered in Carrigtwohill for a trial 8-week choral workshop. Though nervous and uncertain, their desire to come together for the joy of singing forged bonds that have stood the test of time. Steadily growing in numbers since, the Carrigtwohill Gospel Choir have enjoyed some incredible adventures over the last ten years and think it is only fitting to mark their 10th year together in a flourish of song!

Having shared the stage with some wonderful acts over the years, including internationally renowned tenor Russell Watson for both his 2015 and 2017 Irish tours, American piano virtuoso David Syme, Cork’s own folk troubadours, The White Horse Guitar Club, James Kilbane and Amanda Neri to name but a few, the Carrigtwohill Gospel Choir have also tirelessly fundraised and supported dozens of charities throughout Cork.

Always eager to spread their wings, in 2017, the choir embarked on their first foreign trip, to take part in the Prague Autumn Choral Festival, with a stand out performances in the famous Church of St. Nicolas. 2019 saw them head to Lisbon for a very magical performance in Fatima. In recent years, the choir have been an increasingly popular choice for weddings around the country.

The Carrigtwohill Gospel Choir consider this 10th Anniversary concert to be the one of the highlights of their year of celebrations. The 50-strong choir will be joined by several special guests on the night, including their old friends, The White Horse Guitar Club, among many others. Joining them also on the night will be their accompanist Carlene Bunn, as well as bassist Humphrey Murphy & drummer, Davie Ryan, who are guaranteed to add more sparkle!

Muscial Director Aoibheann Carey-Philpott puts it simply – “Singing is our happy place – sharing it with others is the icing on the cake!”.
