Explore the much-loved music of Bach and Enaudi. Bach, the father of all music, influenced Ludovico Einaudi greatly at the beginning of his musical journey and has stayed with him throughout his amazing career.

Bach to Einaudi will explore some of the most treasured music by Bach and Einaudi over the course of three one-hour musical segments. Curated by Dr. Fionnuala Moynihan (piano), this musical voyage promises to be an unforgettable event in Cork’s musical calendar in 2022.

Bach: Aria Variata in A minor BWV989

Composed c.1709, this hauntingly beautiful work is known as the ‘baby Goldberg Variations’ in the music world. A work of pure perfection, Aria Variata consists of a theme and ten virtuoso variations. The theme and variations are in binary form. This is an intriguing work to perform as Bach encourages the performer to embellish each variation thus giving the interpreter the opportunity to make their performance truly individual whilst remaining faithful to the baroque style and tradition.

Einaudi :

  • Reverie
  • I Giorni
  • Eperience
  • FairyTale
  • Divenire

Ludovico Einaudi is one of the most cherished composers in today’s cultural world. He is appreciated by both classical and mainstream enthusiasts. His compositions are beautifully and skilfully written and possess that rare quality of being able to reach a wide audience from the daily radio listener to the skilled professional musician. Born in Turin, Italy (1955) he grew up steeped in the classical music tradition and went on to complete his degree in composition at the Conservatorio Verdi in Milan. He began his professional career as a classical composer and later incorporated such styles as pop, rock. folk and world music into his compositions. His compositional language is universally loved, and it is a joy to perform.
