Featuring: Virginie Efira, Niels Schneider and Jehnny Beth

A chronicle of the unconditional love between a mother and her daughter, An Impossible Love spans from 1958 to the present day. This mother-daughter bond, endangered by an unsteady and manipulative father, features both the intensity of a love story, and the poignancy of a coming-of-age narrative. Based on the 2015 novel by French writer Christine Angot, this period drama begins in the sleepy French town of Chateauroux. Absent for most of daughter Chantal’s childhood, egocentric Philippe suddenly returns, triggering a re-evaluation of a connection once considered unshakeable.
