Clementi – The Piano Sonatas – Recital 1

It is with great excitement that I begin the first of this four-concert series with two of Clementi’s op.10 piano sonatas.

Clementi’s early works exhibit a delicate virtuosity, a lightness of touch and a freshness of style. In contrast to this Clementi’s op.40 no.3 bears the hallmarks of Clementi’s compositional maturity. Its dramatic nature and dark character is operatic in style. It is a formidable sonata to perform and a musical journey for both listener and performer.
