“If you could bottle the joie de vivre that comes from the members of Trio Mediaeval you could probably sell it not just as a pick-me-up, but as some form of basic life-force.” Michael Dervan, The Irish Times

Music Network have advised us that due to some on-going health issues, the singer Torunn Østrem Ossum is indisposed and unfortunately must withdraw from her participation in the tour.
The renowned mezzo soprano Catherine King will join Trio Mediaeval for these performances.
Catherine has performed as part of Trio Mediaeval on numerous occasions and has very kindly agreed to replace Torunn for the tour period.
CATHERINE KING is acknowledged as one of the most versatile mezzo sopranos of her generation. Her concert appearances range from the Verdi Requiem in Symphony Hall Birmingham and Elgar in Warsaw to medieval songs in the USA and Spain (caves and ancient churches), from Bach throughout Europe, and Italian Baroque arias in Genoa to Scottish 20th and 21st Century songs in Warsaw. Recent and forthcoming concerts in Trondheim (Bach), Munich (Kleiberg Requiem) and Worcester (Sea Pictures and The Dream of Gerontius), and Wagner productions at Longborough in the UK.
Trio Mediaeval’s concert programme for the tour will remain unchanged. We will be contacting our customers in relation to the above today.
If you haven’t seen the award winning performance from Daniel Day Lewis in Lincoln yet then today is your last chance to catch it in Triskel Chrsitchurch Cinema.
We are also showing Everyday, starring John Simm and Shirley Henderson. Shot over five years and telling the story of a family trying to cope while their father serves time in prison.
Featuring The Balanescu Quartet
An Irish lyricist, a Romanian virtuoso, and a cutting edge all-strings band – what happens when these musical forces collide?
Songwriter and cellist Vyvienne Long tours with the world renowned Balanescu Quartet for the first time on Irish shores. Vyvienne has composed original material and arranged her beautifully disarming and intensely personal songs for the newly formed string quintet.
The four day horror spectacular that is the Twisted Celluloid Film Festival begins tonight with the Irish premiere of Maniac at 8.30pm
There will be a drinks reception here in Triskel for ticket holders from 7.30pm
Triskel are throwing open the doors of Christchurch to young and emerging musicians to showcase their talent in traditional Irish Music From 4-7pm on St. Patrick’s Day.
The event is being organised as part of the 2013 St Patrick’s Festival with the support TEAM at Cork City Council.
The intention is to provide musicians with a chance to play, and to provide a family friendly, alcohol-free environment for people who want to listen to trad music on the afternoon of Patrick’s Day.
Audience participation is welcomed. Bring along your instruments and enjoy this opportunity to listen to or play some music with other musicians in the beautiful surroundings of Christchurch. All levels, all ages welcome.

Announcement: Due to circumstances beyond our control, Citadel will not be screened at the Twisted Celluloid Film Festival. It is no longer available from the distributor who were due to supply the film, and as a result, we have had to pull it from the programme.
In place of Citadel we will be screening Rob Zombie’s House Of 1000 Corpses. This 10th anniversary screening of Zombie’s feature film debut makes a nice addition to the programme since we will be also screening his latest work The Lords Of Salem.
We deeply regret not being able to screen Citadel, because it is a good film and we want to support Irish filmmaking. We hope it can be shown at a later date.
