Triskel Awarded by TripAdvisor

Posted on Fri 12 July 2013

Triskel Christchurch in Cork has received a much coveted “Certificate of Excellence” from the online Tourism and Travel site for “the exceptional feedback” that the Cork based Arts Centre has earned from travellers and locals over the past year.

Triskel has been in existence for over 35 years, and has undergone many transformations during its history as one of the premiere venues in the country for showcasing Irish and International talent in the arts.

The latest transformation was the annexation of Christchurch to the Centre to create a new Concert hall and Arthouse Cinema in the city in 2011.

The new Arts Centre offers an Arthouse Cinema, regular concerts, readings and exhibitions within a complex that includes an 18th Century Church, restored by Cork City Council in 2011 and entrusted to Triskel to manage as a Cultural venue.

Since its reopening the Arts Centre has enjoyed a renewed energy and success which Director Tony Sheehan also ascribes to “the amazing group of people who operate together under the one roof”, including Plug Records, Corcadorca Theatre Development Centre and The Black Mariah Gallery.

Speaking about the Award Chairman of Triskel Liam Ronayne said “Everyone at Triskel has worked extremely hard during these difficult economic times to make sure that we provide local and visitor alike with access to the arts.  We’re delighted that this has been acknowledged by Tripadvisor”.

Trio Mediaeval:Change of line-up

Posted on Wed 6 March 2013

Music Network have advised us that due to some on-going health issues, the singer Torunn Østrem Ossum is indisposed and unfortunately must withdraw from her participation in the tour.

The renowned mezzo soprano Catherine King will join Trio Mediaeval for these performances.

Catherine has performed as part of Trio Mediaeval on numerous occasions and has very kindly agreed to replace Torunn for the tour period.

CATHERINE KING is acknowledged as one of the most versatile mezzo sopranos of her generation. Her concert appearances range from the Verdi Requiem in Symphony Hall Birmingham and Elgar in Warsaw to medieval songs in the USA and Spain (caves and ancient churches), from Bach throughout Europe, and Italian Baroque arias in Genoa to Scottish 20th and 21st Century songs in Warsaw.  Recent and forthcoming concerts in Trondheim (Bach), Munich (Kleiberg Requiem) and Worcester (Sea Pictures and The Dream of Gerontius), and Wagner productions at Longborough in the UK.

Trio Mediaeval’s concert programme for the tour will remain unchanged.  We will be contacting our customers in relation to the above today.
