If you have seen the Heritage Week brochures around Cork then you will have noticed that we have loads of things happening here in Triskel Christchurch
We will be hosting some very entertaining speakers during the week
On Saturday 18th August at 1pm Dr David Butler will be giving a talk on “Christchurch, Cork: Parish and Parishioners, c.1870 – c.1950”. See event details
On Tuesday 21st August at 1pm City Archaeologist Ciara Brett and Archaeological Consultant Daniel Noonan will give a presentation on the archaeological excavations conducted in Christchurch back in 2009. See event details
Gerry White (chairman of the Cork Branch, Western Front Association) will be here on Friday 24th August at 2pm to give a talk on Cork and the Great War. See event details
For anyone wishing to find out more about the history of Christchurch we will be offering free tours on Saturday 18th August, Tuesday 21st August and Thursday 23rd August. All tours are at 12pm and 2pm and last roughly an hour. Spaces on tours are limited so advance booking is essential.
There will be an exhibition of historic images detailing the history of Christchurch. The Cork Operative Society of Masons and Bricklayers will also be present to discuss their traditions and display some historic images and documents.
We will also be screening a documentary ‘The Saga of Sir Henry Browne Hayes, as told by Cork Historian Michael O’Leary’ throughout the week
